Ok my PM box is getting full and I lag like crazy to empty it. So let's try this out.
This will be a tech corner for some of us to answer questions to the best of our knowledge.

You're options of people to ask will be the following:

Me...
Keep the questions towards Chasis, alignment, brakes, cockpit stuff, mild engine bolt ons

Our resident Janitor ichinobu in regards to engine tunes what gets the most power blah blah blah, he really knows how to break it down and helps you understand what a real engine tune is.

Big Mike Sigma Pi keep the question OEM related since he has vast experience in this area

Now in terms of getting parts please contact Ferdie at SouthCoast Subaru to getting OE or performance parts

Here's an example of some of the questions I get:

hey franco..
i got a question for you
i picked up a set of 4 point harness from shuji
they bascially look like this
http://www.sabelt.co.uk/imagesproduct/clearharness571E.gif
is there anyone to mount this type of harness to the rear seat belt location with additional mounting hardware?
or do i need to get a harness bar to mount the harness??
I think i need 2 eye bolt mounting kit to mount the lap belt.
because he didn't have any mounting bolts..
i'll bring it tomorrow if you need to look at it..
thanks..

Yes you will need to get eyebolts to anchor the lap area. You can upgrade the rear to an eye bolt set up, you'll need additional hardware.

if you want to go gangster contact Ferdie in regards to getting a harness bar by Rallyinnovations, you can also hook up a cam to it as well

I was going to mount lap belt to the OEM belt location.
and shoulder belt to the rear seat belt buckle location in the "X" cross pattern.
that should be ok?

LifePlaza

yes that will be fine. Anchor the shoulder belts to the rear bolts where your factory seat belt male and female ends go

Hi,

I've noticed you on the forums and people say you drift your car but I've seen your mod list and it says you're still AWD set up? Is it and LSD that pulls you throught the turns? Coilovers?

Just wondering how you do it. I've been wanting to take my car auto X to see what it does. BTW its a WRX not an STI so no DCCD

Thanks!
XXXXXX

I've been getting this lately for some reason????

Ok it's still all wheel drive. I mess around with my alignment a lot. I set a little bit of toe in on the front of the wheels and maybe double the toe out in the rear. This will cause massive oversteer when you let off the throttle(in my experiences). I also run higher tire pressue in the back so it gets the rear tires to roll over more. Around 38 cold in the rear, 32 in the front. I never really gas it through a turn, maybe feather it a little. I use a combination of weight shift, brake understeer to get it going. I never power out of a turn.

In terms of my suspension set up, I'm only running springs, adjustable shocks, an anti lift kit, and a rear sway bar.

Try it out an auto X course where it's safe, keep it off the street and keep it realz y0!

jerry in regards to your install today at eddie's

after speaking with eddie about it. It looks like you were having a hard time putting in the spring tensioned nuts and bolts. My question for you is how large is the diameter of the exhaust leading to you're cat. What's the diameter of your cat? Does it need a donut gasket or is it a male female end? I'll take a look at it sometime this week after work to see what the issue is.

kenji815
01-09-2006, 12:51 AM
3 inch mid > 2.5 downpipe
OEM donut gasket on downpipe

after explaining the problem to you, i think removing the donut and bolt directly mid > downpipe might work better
because the mid section is not design to mate with donut gasket.
my gram light mid section had a 45% angel to mate with donut gasket
jerry's is just a straight piping.
on top of that subaru oem spring bolt = the sux
I think we might we siezed one of the bolt and messed up the threads

Ok time for some help.

Just found out today when I was checking on my oil and reloading it with anitfrezz. That my 02 cencor was disconnected.

is it why my car has been heating up in idle? and the acceleration lag ive been having?

Now subaru question

Ive decited not to go for Sti. One big reason is the insurace.

So is the 06 wrx 2.5L engine the same as the Sti?

Can i put on the sti manifold, the gt spec 2.5l headers made for the STi? Basicly can i fit all the Sti parts onto the 06 wrx?

which o2 sensor was off the one at the header or the one at the cat?
1st one is important 2nd one is iffy.

You're overheating issue can not be due to an unplugged o2 sensor. I think you may have a head gasket leak last time I heard you're car.

The 2.5L is the standard engine now for subaru. It's almost the same. People with the new legacy's have been doing the sti swaps with intake manifolds, turbo+manifold, injectors, ECU. Since I have yet to work on an 06 wrx I can't really give you an answer, just my assumption. But if its anything like the legacy engine which is a 2.5L. Most likely doing the swap will be the same.

The one from the header. After I put it on a turnd on the car to move it to another parking spot it felt a lil better.

Well could it also be my water pump? or the thormo stat not opening on time?

Head gasket leak. I think thats my exhuast cuz i lookt under it last week and it had wholes everywhere.

But like when i start the car. before when i let it heat up the revs will drop and theny were below 1k it was ready. normaly took like 4 mins for that to happen.

Then after a while the revs stayed over 1K when i turnd on for ti heat up.

When im driving and i hit a stop sign. The revs stop at 1K. then the temp guage go's way up. When i start moving the temp gauge starts to go down.

The first o2 sensor adjust you're fuel mixture on the KA. It's possible your water pump or thermostat took a shiet. If you're car is idling at 1000rpm it's too high, stock is 600rpm. You're thermostat is supposed to open at a certain temp. If you're at a stand still and the temps are going up something is wrong. When you come to a stop you're radiator is then dependent on the fans since no air is traveling through it. Think of you're engine problems as an apple. Work your way to the inside.
