Anyone ever used an additive to "repair" a head gasket

I've seen some postings about using oil or coolant additives that can seal up head gaskets and/or cracks.

Anyone have any experience with these products? I'm wondering if this would be a first step towards fixing the head gasket in my '91 Legacy.

It really depends on the size of the hole. If it's a rather small leak, there's a chance that an additive would repair it for the time being. But if it's real bad, you might as well throw on your gloves and tear that thing apart and do it the correct way.

Do you think I could do the head gasket myself with the motor still in the car?
