I have finaly gotten my car set up to the point where i feel i could do well with auto cross... I would like to run but I am the type that is very timid when it comes to things i have never done before... if any one has tips/tricks/theories/rules/or any info on where to start please post!!! I have no clue how to get involved and started!!! I spend alot of time in kalamazoo as well so if any one has info from that side of michigan I would love to hear it!!

If you don't have experience with autocross... then your car is already plenty set up. don't worry about mods. Before you become quite skilled, the only thing worth buying is a harness and more tires. Check here for local event info: http://www.detroit-scca.org/

Yes, you will need working seat belts, your tires need to not be corded at all, and you need to wear a helmet while competing, although many regions have loaner helmets available. You also need to have a valid driver's license. That's all it takes though. Send an email to your region or find some locals who'd participated to verify this though, as I've obviously never attended a Detroit Region event.

Hey Cudaeh, drop me an email-

bmft "at" mac "dot" com

I've been running the last couple seasons with Detroit SCCA, there are a lot of WRXs and STi's. All very helpful folks, ans some of them can really teach you how to get fast. You will need a helmet, but there are a few loaners at the events if you don't have one. Our next event is on the 25th of September, you can register at

www.myautoevents.com

Try to register early, you'll save yourself 10 bucks and keep the registration people from going crazy. Hope to see you there!
