what's the best i can get from these two wrx's?
noob reporting in =)
i know first hand that you guys obviously have thorough knowledge of pricings of wrx's. anyway, i'm gonna be selling my car pretty soon and gonna be putting the money toward a down payment for the wrx. so here's the information about the two cars, if you guys think it's a good price or give me a price that would be best suited to try to haggle off of that'd be great.
2004 wrb wrx (private party)
~22k miles
rota actions
eibach springs
(don't know if the last two make much difference but meh)
price is 19,250 but he'd consider offers.
2005 wrb wrx (dealership)
8026k miles
price is 22,988 but haggling is always a good thing =)
thanks in advance!

too high
both vehicles are priced a bit too high. With proper searching, you can walk into a dealership and pick up a base 5-speed brand new for low to mid 21's. Although 06's aren't here yet, there aren't any more 05's being delivered, so grab one now, because they're going to go fast.
A few light mods do NOT add to a car's resale value. That used 04 shouldn't go for more than 18. If you offer that, he may call you insane, but after a month when he still has it because he's asking too much, he may reconsider your offer.
The 05 depends on whether it has the premium package or not. With premium, it's probably a 20-21K car, without, it's 19's

I'd take the '05 for sure, but if you can handle waiting, grab an '05 just before or right when the '06s come out. You'll get a bangin deal and it'll be brand new
i got a quote online for a brand new one for 22,592 and that sounded pretty good but i will try to go down a little bit more (doesn't hurt to try right?). i went to test drive the used blue one and this is what happened.
upon opening the hood i noticed a greddy bov and on the interior it had a apexi boost gauge and hks turbo timer. this was the one with the 8025 miles. the car had to be jump started before actually turning on. anyway, now to the good part, i was driving and it was great, great great great i was about sold, and then i stopped at a light. a few seconds later the car suddenly shut off; no power to anything, emergency lights wouldn't turn on. now i always thought that once u get the car moving even if it has been jump started it wouldn't shut off later, but maybe i got the wrong impression? anyway, it would make this buzzing noise that came from the steering column (where the turbo timer was mounted on the bottom). please help a fellow soon-to-be owner of a wrx
lemme add that the car had to be jump started because the map light was left on

overnight charge
it could be something as simple as a totally dead battery that won't hold charge, ranging more complex through something to do with a bad electrical job on one of the mods that's draining the battery or otherwise messing with the car. "car had to be jumped because the map light was left on" is a pretty easy excuse to use. Your best bet is to have them hook it up to a slow charger overnight, or replace the battery entirely, then take it for an extended test drive. Make sure that if you purchase it, you request that they acknowledge the problem in the sales contract, and agree to fix it if it recurs at any time after the purchase. If they seem hesitant about that, then that means that it wasn't a "map light", and you should steer clear.
