yah, I know it's been asked many times...
I was hoping to search at the old forum, but its no longer
available... I need to get a drop-in K&N filter (not CAI)
as my factory filter is due for change.
Please let me know the K&N part number you used.
Thanks for your help.

Im sure K&N has a webpage, or you can check summit racing, thats where I found the part number last time I needed it.

I have read many reports of K&N filters ruining WRX MAF's
And I know SUbaru will NOT warranty a K&N damaged MAF.
Go with a foam type filter like the perrin instead

Thats the part number off the box of the K&N I bought at my local subaru dealer.
I used to have a UNI foam filter (comes oiled) and never had any problems with my MAF. 25k miles combined between UNI and K&N.
I have cleaned my UNI and oiled the hell out of it. Never had a problem.
I have heard of a few cases of ruined MAF's, but never directly from someone that it happened to. Always someone hearing about it from someone else.
I wouldnt worry about it with a K&N personally.

Just make sure when you 1st clean the K&N, you let the red dye stuff (oil) dry completely. If any part of it is not fully dry, I could see the engine suck it in a mess up the MAF.

Any Nissan Sentra or Maxima filter from 95 up will work. This is from back when there was no WRX's and us RS guys has to IMPROVISE. Anyways, that what I used. Make sure you buy some cleaner/oil now as when you want to clean it, the parts store will be out. Trust me. :D

Yes there have been reports of it but like was stated above let it dry and you should be fine. I have also heard there is no real advantage to those on our cars. I had one on my last car which had an SC and never had problem.

if something like that messes up your coche, you could probably have a pretty good law suit on your hands. K&N should have some protection against that.
But who am I,,,just my 2 cents!
