Got some car questions for yall
I broke the 60,000 mile mark last week so now that any reliability issues will be out of pocket I figured it would be best to ask a few things.
1. With my 02 I know I got shafted with a crappy tranny. What are some signs I should be alert to so that I could know if something is going bad?
2. The only WRX I've driven is my own. Since i bought my ride (used with 38,000 miles) it's made i deep clicking sound from the rear/ undercarriage when even I let off the gas. is it normal and what could it be?
3. What the best fluid for the tranny?
4. What does the S-Squared 60,000 mile check up involve?

i have an 02 with a almost 51,000 miles and all i can say is dont break your tranny....if your synchros go bad u wont be able to go into gear as easily and dont gun your tranny or you might break gears right off like i have. As far as the clicking sound i dont know if its the same as i have had but my downpipe or catback system have been rubbing against my car when i downshift because of so much backpressure.

Yeah, the goal is to not break the tranny. i'm wondering what's the best way not to do that. For the record the car's stock. the clicking sounds usely goes hand in hand with a mild deacceleration. almost like a quick tap of the brakes. Other cars i've had in just coast when the foot is off the pedal.

all you do is not drive your car hard....dont redline it all the time or hard shift or powershift, whatever you wanna call it. All ive learned is the slower and the easier you put in a gear, the more it will save your tranny...the rest is just wear and tear. I dont know about your clicking sound though

I'm not sure about specific signs that it's going bad, but any grinding or reluctance to go into a gear, or whine while in gear is indicative of an issue.
Clicking could be the rear end being goofed up, or an axle or u-joint going bad. Are the boots in good shape? Do you hear it at any speed?
Best fluid, hands down, is Redline shockproof lightweight. It looks like Smurf blood, it protects like kevlar, and it's slicker than snot. It'll feel like a whole new transmission.
The 60k is the same as you'd get at the dealer; fluids are swapped out, all the systems are inspected, spark plugs, etc etc etc. There's a checklist at the shop if you want to run by or give us a call, I don't have it digitized.

We can of course do it with whatever fluids you'd like, including synthetics.

thanks for all the info. I called your shop and made an appointment for next Wed. I also got a chirping sound when the A/C is on. Figure i'll have the 60k check up and have a few other things get looked at.
