View Full Version : Oil Filter wrx37484 06-16-2005, 12:59 PM Has anyone tried this? http://www.hopupracing.com/troilfisufoi.html I did a search and came up empty. iNfEk 06-16-2005, 01:04 PM haven't even heard of this product until you posted it. it seems like a good idea but i dont' know... hmmm why don't YOU go and try it and let everyone know how it goes... I'm worried about leakage if you dont' seal it right...etc. since it's a replaceble type filter. if you have a leak your engine could be robbed of it's life! Jon wrx37484 06-16-2005, 02:03 PM Jon, I have a friend that uses one on his motorcycle. He said that you can buy replacement seals. Your right about possible leakage, my wrx oil pressure is pretty high (+/- 90 psi). He also mentioned that he cleans the filter with carb cleaner and lets it dry. iNfEk 06-16-2005, 02:29 PM well if you can clean the filter that's not bad but you have to remember to put that filter back on and put oil in the engine before starting your car... to me that's pretty ****ty since you have to let the filter dry COMPLETELY before you can install it. that comes out a lot MORE expensive cost than using regular filters. I'll stick with the ones I'm using :D try it out... let us know how it goes dude. Jon rtakashi 06-16-2005, 02:49 PM pretty cool filter...who will be the first to use those filters...i'm happy use oem or fram oil filter, after your done just throw it away. silver satin 06-16-2005, 08:27 PM With a name like Hop up Racing don't think something from them would be going on my car.. sub-sonic 06-17-2005, 07:55 AM when i saw the smaller filter on the STI i was actually relieved due to the fact that I have seen and painstakenly worked on many damaged engines (mainly rental cars) because of ruptured, smashed, or missing an entire oil filter and 'stem'. Im preety sure many of that damaged engine could had been prevented if the driver didn't ignore that lil' red light. What Im trying to point out is that the bigger filter we got under that motor, the more its susceptiple in contact with boulders, debris, cats etc. (no that plastic under cover can only do so much), and if the filter happens to get hit- you want it to crush as it'll absorb the impact to avoid ripping your oil filter 'stem' out of your block. Unfortunately that part of alum. block is not that strong. So! stay small like the engineers have chosen for our packet rockets. Spend your money on something else instead- like errr.... perfume or sumting-lolZ wrx37484 06-17-2005, 11:26 AM when i saw the smaller filter on the STI i was actually relieved due to the fact that I have seen and painstakenly worked on many damaged engines (mainly rental cars) because of ruptured, smashed, or missing an entire oil filter and 'stem'.
