I am going with 18x8.5's for sure. If I want to go any bigger then I either have to role my fenders or beef up my suspension. I am not sure how far I am going with this car so I will stick with this size.
I feel like a shameless salesman but I've got some Grids for sale. They are wider then what you want but if you're gonna autox or track your car then you should look into some coil overs anyways.

Can't go wrong with 17x9 DPTs either.

I have ponndered about getting some coilovers in the future but I wasn't sure. What do you all think are the best coilovers to get? I am not worried about price on either wheels or coilovers.

Again. What do you want the use them for? You want to have a smooth ride with some aggression when you want it I recommend Stance LX+

I dont mean to jack on this thread-
But if I were to get rims, what'd be the best fitment with s-tech drop springs on a 05 Rex?
ALoha!

OEM brakes? Have you rolled your fenders?

Yes, OEM Brakes. And I forgot to mention that I don't plan on rolling my fenders..

Agreed, but Rota does offer a lot of aggressive fitments that you don't see when looking at the real wheels unless you really drop some cash and get a custom set.

After doing quite a bit of research on the subject, I believe that BC coilovers are going to be the best bet at this point in time for the '08+ imprezas. There aren't a whole lot of options when it comes to coilovers and there are even less when it comes to springs and there still isn't anyone that makes struts for '08+ either. if there were strut options, then springs might be the way to go, but there aren't. BC offers three different coilover options, the BR series, RAM series, and ER series. BR's are fairly basic yet they still offer a lot of adjustablity and are reasonably priced at about $1000 depending on where you get them. Ram series is pretty much the same as the BR series but with an inverted dampening system and they will run you about $1300. And finally the ER series wich offers independent bump and rebound adjustment as well as an external reservoir are the top of the line and check in at about $1900.

A lot of people have the BR set and are having great success with them. A few other people have the RAM set and are also have great success with them and very few people have the ER set and they are probably the most serious when it comes to getting the most out of their suspension.

FYI, Stance LX+ coilovers won't fit on a '09. At least not yet... There have been people who have modified Stance coils to fit on the new impreza though...

Stock brakes will get you pretty far as long as you upgrade the pads. And I do believe that you can get away with 9" wheels under untouched fenders depending on your suspension set-up. In the near future, I plan on getting a set of 245 (9.64") tires, I'll let you know how well they fit.

hwob90 09-06-2010 10:28 AM

9inch wheels will fit with a high offset possibly like 45. I have a 17x9 +30 on with a 235/45 tire and I had to cut my rear fenders*

As far as my suspension goes, I'm only running stech drops.

I'm on Megan springs and have rear fenders cut. front wheels Cambered a little

It really just depends on your price range and what your goals with the car are... I like to get the real deal over some knockoffs but it's all dependent on your budget. I'd go with some Rota's, they're fairly priced and you wont be spending 2k on a set of wheels. Good luck with your search!

Wait, nevermind, disregard everything I said, for some reason I think I thought you were the OP. I have almost no idea what can be fit under 05 fenders. 8.5? I am sure you will find a wealth of knowledge on the GD chassis on your own. The GH chassis is so new that no one is really sure what works and what doesn't yet.
