Cool 17x8 + 225/45's + 02Wagon =......?

Hey i-Club, After a good week of searching this forum + Nasioc I finally have to ask my own Wagon Fitment Question. I have been under the impression I should stick with a 7.5 width wheel but my wheel of choice, the Rota GForces from SubyDude and other venders only carry 8in widths. I almost gave up until I did further searching. Please chime in if you have any helpful advice or suggestion about this setup.

I mostly drive the wagon as my daily commuter and for weekend spirited drives. I have a ButtonWillow track day at the end of November that I have been trying to take into account as well. I only expect to make it to one track day a season so I'm not super worried about building the perfect track weapon. Thats where my BB1 comes into play.

Car: MY02 Bugeyeeee Wagon

Wheel: Rota G-Force 17x8
Offset: 48
Tire: RE-01R 225/45/17
Suspension: Stock but debating options, Wagon Sti Pinks or Prodrive Springs...

Fender Rolling seems inevitable so add that to the setup.

If this is an easy NO, or has the possiblity of being rad with a few things let me know, I'm here to learn. Thanks!!!
-Jeremy

With rolled fenders on your wagon, going with a 17x8, +48 offset wheel, w/ 225/45 should be just fine.

Bumblebee03 actually offered fender rolling about 1-2 weeks ago, and he owns a 2003 WRX wagon, lowered on Tokico D-spec struts w/ Tanabe gf210 springs, +48 offset, 17x8 Rota Boost w/ 235/40 and he has absolutely no problems/rubbing.

Hey Ivegotthenuts, Yea I unfortunately caught his post too late but about the roller. I'm glad to hear that you feel it will work, I have just seen too many posts about rubbing that I have to ask out. I appreciate the help.

if you want to know if it'll rub or not, the best way to find out is to try it. I'm sure someone in your area wouldn't mind letting you put on a set of 17x8's to see if it rubs or not

VRT MBasile: Yea, I wish I had the time for trial and error... Its hard finding time theses days to do things like this. Its the main reason that brought me into the forums. Gain from the pool of trials and errors.

Ivegotthenuts: Any photos of Bumblebee03's wagon? did a quick forum search with no luck. Thanks!

you should be able to role the fenders and run 245....at the very least 235's.

No reason to run wheels that big for 225's.

If I can run 235's I'm all over it. I just dont want to be stuck by not being able to fit these in my wells. I cant afford the mistake so I have been trying to play it safe. The wheel I'm fixed on is only offered in 17x8 so thats my only reasoning for the size. Thanks for catching me before I ordered, now I wait for more suggestions.

Appreciate the help!

Edit: Question... is the bug eye and the peanut eye clearances the same? Would be helpful to know.

I work with Bumblebee03 and do work at his place often on my blue 05. I rolled fenders with him and can definitely attest to the fact that he has 235's on 8" wide Rota's and gets no rubbing....even with lowered suspension (noted above), a hitch mounted bike rack, and four mountain bikes loaded down. And he doesn't exactly drive conservatively in this setup

Not sure if he has pics or not, but he should be on the BlueMilk website from the October Thunderhill event that TEAM Racing put on.

Shagginwagon, Exactly what I wanted to hear. I really need to get my fenders rolled asap. I'll bring the beers. Thanks man!

The bad news is that Bumblebee03 was renting the fender roller for that week only. He got it from this online service: http://www.rollyourfender.com/

I'd recommend you rent one (like $100), have a rolling party at someone's place (with garage!) and everyone that shows up just splits the cost. If you use the heat gun, it is hella easy and you'll have no paint issues.

Hey gang!
Shagginwagon just tipped me off about this thread... I don't have a picture that shows the tire clearance but I can attest that it's real. In addition to what's posted above, I'm running about -1.5 deg camber in the rear.

I'm about to install the Nitto 245/40-17s that I bought and I'm pretty nervous about the rubbing again! I may have to attend the rolling party that you're going to host and try and *flare* my fenders a bit! :-D
