Oil change
 

What do you guys recommend me getting? This is the first oil change on my STI

Brand and model numbers would be nice :D

How many miles?
breakin change i'd recommend just using OEM

Once your done with your break in period, I would recommend switiching to a high quality synthetic oil like AMSoil, Redline, Royal Purple, etc... Also, use OEM oil filter. Its a bit more expensive, but pay back in the long run.

10w30,5w30 etc etc....which one is better? noob here too

I would stick with what Subaru recommends, 5w30 unless you have needs for thicker/thinner oil (i.e. freezing weather, death valley-like heat).

From my own personal experience, synthetic oil tends to keep the engine running smoother, especially at higher RPMs. If you do it yourself, the cost almost balances out compared to if you bring it in.

nah.. 10w-30 is so much better! well i guess its where u live..

Anyone recommend those quick drain plugs?

i've had mine on for 2 months no problemsso far. also ave on iclub has it on for a year or more and he hasnt had a problem either. i bought one called qwikvalve

now why is 10-30 so much better than 5-30? is it because its thicker when cold, and takes longer to get up to operating temp? 5-30 for the win.
