FLI official response

STATEMENT OF FACTS

1. THE LEAK DOWN/COMPRESSION TEST PERFORMED AT GRUPPE S DID NOT AND DOES NOT VOID ANY WARRANTY FROM FLI.

2. THE TIME IN THAT JEFFREYS CAR WAS ON THE DYNO WAS 6 HOURS. THE ACTUAL TUNING TIME WAS 135 MINUTES. FLI ONLY TOOK JEFFREYS CAR UP TO 4000 RPM FOR MOST OF THE DAY. AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN WE SAW CONSISTANTECY WE THEN TOOK THE CAR TO 5000 RPM. FLI NEVER SPUN THE ENGINE ABOVE 5200 RPM. THIS IS BACKED UP BY DATA LOGGED INFO ON THE DYNO’S COMPUTER. WHEN EVER WE SAW HIGH A/F’S WE IMMEDIADALLY QUIT TUNING. ACCORDING FROM THE DATA OF JEFFRREYS WRX ECU, THERE WAS NEVER ANY SIGN OF A ENGINE DAMAGING PROBLEM.

3. JEFFRREY INSISTED ON SENDING HIS MOTOR TO CRAWFORD BASED ON HIS UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT HE SAW DURING THE DYNO SESSION. THIS WAS ALSO BASED FROM THE LEAKDOWN/COMPRESSION TEST DONE FROM GRUPPE S. JEFFREY STATED, “HE WOULD NOT ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THEN A NEW MOTOR” AFTER SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY ON HIS PROJECT, THIS WAS THE ONLY OPTION. FLI SUPPORTED JEFFREY’S DECISION AND FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH HIS WISHES.

4. THIS HAS BEEN A UNFORTURATLY SITUATION FOR JEFFREY AND FLI. FLI WOULD SUGGEST TO JEFFREY TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THE MEDIATION PROGRAM (CALIFORNIA BAR) IF HE DID NOT DO SO ALREADY. HERE IS A LINK TO THERE WEBSITE: http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/StdPage....Program%20Work.

FLI TRYS TO SPREAD POSSITIVITY, NOT NEGATIVITY AND WOULD LIKE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ASAP THROUGH MEDIATION.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS WHO HAS AND CONTIUNE TO SUPPORT FLI. WE TRY TO SUPPORT ALL OF YOU WITH THE SAME SERVICE.

1. Agreed. I never drew this conclusion
2. you had better check your graphs again, we both know for a fact that the engine was taken beyond 5200rpm. Why would Miles show me HP/Tq numbers at 5200rpm. How many times did you have to close the door to the office because it was so loud from my car being spun on the dyno. I have tried to keep it honest. If you are not going to do the same please keep your comments to yourself.
3. Why is it everytime I see your explanation you quote me from the moment I walked in the door and never quote me as I was leaving. Frankly never quote what you said as I was leaving.
4. A claim has been filed, we will have both forgotten about this by the time it gets settled.

so if the engine is fine, what was the problem?

i would understand using injectors they are not used to or havent tuned with and maybe having to pay a little longer on the dyno.

if in fact there is no damage to the engine, then they did the job, right? but the tune was never finished?

not taking sides yet.....

Why don't you guys make it right and give him his money back for the install and tuning??? it's obvious that he didn't get a tune, nor is his motor in the car at the moment.

i thought the motor was installed, how would they begin tuning it if it wasnt installed?
he then had them take it out and now wont pay to have it reinstalled, right?

was it proven that they didnt install it right?

crawford confirmed that it was not damaged at all from the dyno time at FLI.

so what was the coolant smoking from the exhaust and all that?

and why did gruppe-s determine something was wrong?

sorry man, just saw it this morning and was skimming thru. the test on the motor didnt make sense because the hot/cold factor seemed backwards.

i do feel for you tho, i would definitely be pissed if i even spent 1/20 of what you did and it didnt come out as i expected. good luck, im just trying to get an understanding of the situation and FLI as they have been my shop of choice. which is why i am not taking sides yet

I don't know? My guess is Quirt is in possession of the blue print for this motor. This would be considered trade secrets. Measurements, end gaps, tolerances, ect.
