My car on EQ's dyno
Retuned for UEL from EL, only managed to lose 3whp & 7#ft tq and got the boxer rumble back. :)
Maddad catted dp, whisper exhaust gruppe-s UEL headers / grimmspeed up perrin inlet, perrin Y tube VF39, STi TMIC, Hallman MBC NGK iridium IX spark plugs, Walbro fuel pump 6MT swap, 4th gear pull 287whp / 315#ft tq http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx3ldHNzvf4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nHOmq8UWw4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDO-j97YcZ4 |
Nice! Good to know actual power difference between EL and UEL
|
These are peak numbers, the two dyno graphs look a little different, but the car really doesn't feel slower to me. I'll take it to the track this spring and that will tell the truth. My best pass with the EL was 12.836.

Derek,
Your car has always made great power especially considering the catted downpipe and relatively quiet exhaust! Some cars just have it! I still like the EL headers better... the car runs smoother and the torque curve is a bit less peaky, but overall the UEL performed better than I expected. -- Ed |
I was pleased with the results, really was expecting 280/305 or so, Seemed like every run the car did better. It was a fun and enjoyable experience to see my car on the dyno at your shop. If we ever get E85 readily available around here, I'll be in for more. Thanks again!

nice setup and numbers man. car sounds fantastic

What were the climatic conditions of the two different tunes?

Thanks! Was fun standing behind the car on a couple of the runs seeing how much air is actually moved through the exhaust. Feels like a strong wind. :)
What were the climatic conditions of the two different tunes?
April last year, probably 10-15 degrees F. As you know, these are just numbers, trap times will tell the real numbers, will go to sac raceway when the weather gets better. Ran a 12.836 @106.2x with the EL. |
Your car sounds great in those videos! Very clean, deep tone.

-- Ed
Thanks! I actually really like this exhaust, pretty quiet driving around under normal conditions, but sounds great at WOT. Not bad for an exhaust called a "whisper". |
Nice, what's up with the water under the exhaust tip? Ed why don't you have some FAN'S? IC 1 fan, that can't help to much with heatsoak?:noidea:

He had 2 fans running, one directly over the intercooler blowing down and the second is directly in front of the radiator. The first run pushed out the condensation in the exhaust, didn't do it again after that. My crappy camera skills and phone cam don't show great detail... |

We're working on upgrading the fans, but the ones I want are $$$$$ ;).
Its surprising how well these little fans work. They actually push a lot more air than you'd expect. They seem to work great for everything except the more poorly designed short ram intakes which do get quite heat soaked on the dyno. Everything else runs very well, however. -- Ed |
Any chance of posting up both graphs?
