Good tune?

Hello, I have a 2003 WRX automatic. I recently had it tuned at a tune shop with the cobb accessport. I showed my cousin my dyno results and he believes from his experience with having cars tuned that mine should have alot more horsepower. I ended up with 232.45whp and 220.10 torque. Now I did some research with the Cobb tuning Stage 2 kit and their dyno results come out 224whp. The Cobb 2 stage kit comes with the accessport, downpipe and catback exhaust. My car has all of that plus, Stainless steel headers, catless uppipe, Injen cold air intake and a walboro fuel pump. With all these extra bolt on mods shouldnt I be producing more than what I ended up with? I appreciate all professional opinions. thank you!

thats about right my bugeye made 220 awhp and 220awtq with full catless, turboback, uppipe and a sti tmic

I expected with new headers, uppipe, intake and fuel pump id push out alot more than 8whp more than the cobb tuning stage 2 kit!!

then again numbers are just numbers, it depends on what dyno you were on

Do you think your tune shop can help push me out my power?

Honestly on the stock TD04 turbo with supporting mods, 230 whp isn't bad. If you want more power you're going to need a bigger turbo.

knightsnke 11-28-2010 05:53 PM

if I get a bigger turbo, am i going to have to also get bigger injectors and a re-tune?

Yes

the #'s you have are about right, all dynos also don't read the same. and a fuel pump will not reallly give you power...

RLLYRCR 11-28-2010 06:19 PM

Ya dude, automatic has a lot to do with it, some see as much as 15% less hp and tq as a manual but like stated above, numbers don't matter as long as it was tuned correctly. Target egt's, afr's and torque curve are what you really want to look at.

Sounds like great numbers on an automatic, bet it's pretty quick around town.

knightsnke 11-29-2010 07:56 PM

I think its really quick, I dont know why my cousin is soo against the dyno results, but then again hes used to cars like Mustang Cobra's pushing out 500whp... i dont think he knows enough about imports... i dunno hes had over a dozen fast cars modded, etc, but i think they were ALL domestic
