Fidanza Flywheels are made using the highest quality, most modern materials available. The flywheel itself is is made from either 6061 T6 or 2024 T3 aluminum depending on the model. All of these materials are tempered aluminums which are very very strong yet very lightweight. The friction surface is very special. Fidanza uses a 1050 high carbon, alloy steel. This alloy is perfect for this use. It is incredibly durable allowing the user to use just about any clutch disc material available from organic to Kevlar and even sintered iron.

Fidanza attaches the friction surface using aerospace nuts and bolts or 304 stainless steel rivets depending on the application. These are some of the best fasteners money can buy. We chose them because of their incredible shear strength and resistance to corrosion. All of Fidanza's ring gears are heat treated for durability. They are heated, pressed on and then secured using grade 10 fasteners.

How do these aluminum flywheels compare to, say, Exedy's or ACT's chromoly flywheels? I guess what I'm saying is, sell me on these and I may buy one, but as far as I know, chromoly is by far superior to aluminum..

there are 2 main advantages of the Fidanza ALUMINUM flywheel.

1. Weight saving over Chromoly.
Although, Chromoly is light, but compare to aluminum it is no match!

2. You can change the Friction Plate on the Fidanza Flywheel.
This way you dont have to spend the full amount to get a new flywheel every time, when the flywheel is wearing out!

What about the ACT Prolite...it's chromoly and it weighs only 9.5lbs. also? Instead of replacing the whole flywheel, I thought you could have chromoly flywheels resurfaced?

Yes you can resurface Chromoly Flywheel, but then its just more work for u. Would you rather resurface or replace the surface?

Also it is cheaper to replace the friction plate on the Fidanza compare to resurfacing the Chromoly flywheels!
