hey ya'll

My name is Matthew. I live in mud-upstate, just south of Kingston in NY. I drive a 98' Subaru Forester, which I hope to modify very soon. What I want to do now is maybe modify the engine so I can get more HP and speed. If anyone can give me some advise, that would be very awesome.

Unfortunately there isn't all that much you can do with the N/A engines powerwise unless you want to go well beyond the basic bolt-ons (intake, exhaust etc.). Also if that's a DOHC the head gasket is a common point of failure, so you'll want to make sure those are ok before any modifying.
You can check out the tech forums for the normally aspirated engines to see what other people are doing. Also depending on your budget and resources you can look into an engine swap, the 2.5's are commonly swapped for the WRX motor but there aren't too many WRX/Foresters around. There's a lot of info here and also over on NASIOC. You should also check out the Tri-State forum over on NASIOC if you haven't already, it is a lot more active than this one.

1st things 1st... what are your goals for the horsepower? street driven only or slight off road use(beach, trails). try browsing www.scoobymods.com
thats a technical site started by one of our moderators, Peaty. he owns a forester also.

if you want to blow someone away in a wagon(esepcially a forester) you are going to need to do an enginge swap

Hmmm, I don't have the money for that right now.

Do I need to make an engine swap to add turbo to it? or can I just add some sort of turbo with my stock engine? IF ANYONE has advice or some suggestions for me to do to my car, IM me on AIM at mudpath95.
