So now that Rehnquist is dead...

How do you feel about Bush nominating Roberts for chief justice and being given the opportunity to fill another seat? :)

jvick125 09-05-2005 04:10 PM

I like that he is given 2 spots to fill, but I can't make any opinons on Roberts because I don't know who he is or have any info on him. I'll have to read up on him.

I'm too sick to my stomach to even consider this. At least he didnt go with Clarence Thomas (who is Bush's favorite SC judge... and that is saying something)

dub2w 09-06-2005 03:03 PM

Well, looks like Roberts may have to jump through a few more hoops to get to the top seat.

Is this move unprecedented in the history of the SC? An unseated SC judge getting promoted to their highest spot?

No its happened before, I think something like 6 of the former CJ's were SC noobies

dub2w 09-06-2005 03:49 PM

good to know. Roberts actually seems like a decent enough pick all things considered.

Salty 09-06-2005 05:01 PM

Yeah, he really isn't that bad. I think the media and dems are tackling him hard because they can.

Magish 09-06-2005 05:24 PM

He is not as bad as say, Gonzales (sp?) but he still isn't great. Probably the best we can get with this administration, as he is smart and isn't too radical. I still can't stand that we will have another, MORE conservative, pro life, anti-gay rights (I dont know this for sure, but i'm assuming since dubya nominated him), ect. person in the supreme court. As Dub2w said, it makes me feel a bit sick.

FW Motorsports 09-06-2005 05:46 PM

Pro life & anti gay...what bullcrap.
Are those the only things you ****ing idiots think should make or break a nominee?
What about job exportation?
Or gun rights?
Or loose borders?

God help us all if that's the case.
