Let's boycott gas...psyke

 WHen gas hits $4.50 i am going midgrade. at $5.00 im going 87 with octane booster and @ $5.50 i am walking to work.:D56CC97E5391454A915 35 miles i dont give an ish. I dont know if it is true but i read this email the other day.

Each of the big oil companies just posted like $125 billion profits. thats $125,000,000,000. If they were to only post $20 billion profits we could still be paying only $2.50/gallon.

Isnt wierd to say only 2.50. I remember when i was a kid and my granma had a gas station and the prices were 67 cents/gallon. And then around 14 years old it just past a buck. then when i start to drive it was $1.65. and now gas prices are @ $4 and i drive a subie that i have to put 91 in. WTF.

In economics i believe it is called inelastic demand.:biggrin1: (im smart) Exxon, Chevron, Shell, BP, and conoco phillips can charge $7 if they wanted to [and if it werent for gov't regulation im sure they would be right now] and we would still buy the s**t. NO matter what we will always need gas. Especially in our beautiful subies.

There is no point in a boycott either cuz number 1 that makes you a hippie and number 2 you cant get to work, which in turn makes you poor, which in turn make you a bum. And then at that point you are a hippie bum.

We can't boycott for one day cuz that doesnt hurt anyone If you were to do one you would have to do it for at least a week, for a strong driven effort for one month. But if that happens then the price of food, clothing, beer and everything is going to go up and will make that boycott counter intuitive.

:blah: So my answer for this problem is to do what i did. Buy your wife a prius and the money she saves in gas you get to spend on your Subie. And then after a while make her learn how to drive the subie so you can take her prius on your 75 mile round trip job adventure and the whole time think, S**t I bought this piece of junk for her to drive not me. And then the big kicker is you will see her avg. 51.4 miles per gallon, think you can do the same but you lead foot it cuz its a slow car and you only get 30 miles to the gallon and relize you might as well be driving your own car, why, becuase at least you have fun in your car and you wont look like a retard.:joker:

Inelastic demand is what I think you meant. Elastic demand is to say we would buy less gas with a decreasing change in price. Not to be a douche. :)

Don't be mad only at oil companies, do you know how much our state and federal government make off of a gallon of gas?

SO ***** our lives! yay

You are correct sir. I did mean inelastic. I was all fired up at the time. paying $61.00 for a tank of gas will do that. I made sure to edit thnak you.

I remember when it hit $2. I was working at a chevron station at the time and it was an old school station. The dials only went up to $1.99. So we were selling every grade for $1.99 with and without full service. I was doing full service on geo metros with 17 year olds and crack heads in them. Sucked. Our supreme and mid grade tanks both emptied out in like 2 days.

It was a temporary spike and went back down. They later tore that station down.

But seriously that was like 10 years ago. You're gonna tell me that the economy has warranted a 200 percent jump in under 10 years?

I just saw $4.06 on Sat. Highest I've personally seen.

I remember the first time I had to put $40 in my wrx tank. Now it can eat up over $50.

my caddy is gonna be like $80 and I'll be able to drive to san jose and back on it... boooooo.

whats gonna really suck is....we are gonna complain years, or should I say months from now, about how we remember spending a lil over 50 bucks for a full tank. while at the moment we may be spending $70 plus for a full tank

Gas by my house is 4.09 and go down 4 lights heading to mt. view it's 4.15. Not only are our prices going up but 4.89 /g for diesel, trucks are going to soon charge more and more for products and shipping. It's all a downward spiral.

So glad we sold our suburban 2 years ago. Had to have it for work, but the gas prices were killing us. Back then we were paying between 100-140 to fill up every 4 days.
