Great article here by James Pinkerton:

Deals with the media effecting Muslim relations/the way we can wage war, the problems Guantanamo Bay and American patience at the bottom of the article. Pinkerton has a conservative approach to a lot of his writings and his resume isn't far off. I haven't read much of what he writes but when I have there always seems to be a liberal flair to it for some reason.

interesting read. i was initially put off by the newly coined words in his verbiage, but was able to muddle through that.

this paragraph struck out:

"In such an environment, all the good ideas for improving America's public diplomacy aren't going to help much. In a word, the underlying substance of places such as Gitmo must change before the surface can be made any more attractive. Alas, such perceptual change is going to prove difficult when the top lawyer at the White House writes a memo describing the Geneva Conventions against torture as "quaint" and then is promoted to be Attorney General. It's little wonder, therefore, that long prior to the latest Gitmo allegations, America's image in the Muslim world has been mostly negative."

very good point.

also liked his conclusion. and i think that he is, for the most part, correct
