I wonder if it will it cover DOD spending.

Superglue WRX 08-30-2010 02:14 PM

Movie is way late to the game.

It's obviously a last ditch effort before election day. Might work, probably won't. Sad that republicans are using the tea party to advance their agenda (which doesn't match the tea partys...). Tea party is now riddled with GOPers, when GOPers are as much to blame as any Democrat. But Tea Party people are riding the wave, and drinking the GOP koolaid.

But still, this movie should (BETTER!!) help people understand the spending is outrageous.

I've seen stuff about "Tea Party" people posted up here and there. However, whenever I think of "Tea Party", I'm thinking of the "Boston Tea Party".

I assume this "Tea Party" is something different, so what's the deal with this newer group? Is there info somewhere about what their purpose is and what they are doing?

It started as a less tax, smaller govt movement about 3 years ago. Trying to get the word out about heavy spending, large debts, too many govt programs, too much tax, too much corruption in govt, bad incumbents in govt.

But somewhere a long the way, the GOP jumped on board, and gave it some steam. In the beginning the tea party folks were against both Dems and GOP, but now the GOP is all up in the tea party. They are using it to help get votes, and once voted in, stick with the status quo. We saw it with Bush, mr. champion of tax cuts. Didn't stop him from spending and bailing out corps.

but anyways, tea party is dirty now. Filled with the GOP riding it for what it's worth. Sad that such a small, focused intellectual group is now filled with the GOP, and also a bunch of racist and bigots, which the media focuses on and ignores the real tea party folks who might have something meaningful to say and fight for.

Yes, i'm bitter as ****.

Not trying to be mean, but where have you been that you haven't heard about the TP? Its been plastered all over the news for the longest.

You are assuming I actually care enough to watch the news on a regular basis. :p

Like I said earlier, I've seen Tea Party stuff posted up in different places, but that doesn't mean I've actually known what it was about. Think about how much stuff you pass by on a regular basis every day. Have you actually stopped to get to be informed about everything that's just in plain sight during your normal outing?

I don't need to know every detail about something off the top of my head. I just need to know how to access the details about something so I can become informed.

"President Barack Obama today sent to Congress a proposed defense budget of $663.8 billion for fiscal 2010."

That is still quite a bit of $$$.

My thoughts are right wing types made this film, and a strong military is one of their constants, so I doubt that the vid is going to be objective and address all places where money is spent and could be cut, it's only going to focus on the "we're turning socialist" programs. I also doubt that they will do a comparison between the Regan years (including inflation adjustment of course) and today with Obama.

VS 1.6 Trillion for health care. Id rather spend the money on people making products like boats and planes and having people operate them.

When china invades you will thank me :D
