Dear Mr. Obama,

With all due respect...

**** YOU!!!!!

In the effort to pay for healthcare people who are to lazy to pay for themselves, we will now be taxed on beer, wine, and liquor.

tax will go up an additional:

$.50 a 6 pack/ $2 a case

$.50 per bottle of wine

$.40 per fifth of booze.

also because all obesity is soda's fault they will also be taxing energy drinks and soda.

diet drinks wont be taxed however

what in the mother **** is going on...

this might be the last straw that starts the revolution

Looks like Oregon got to vote on a similar proposal last month.

Actually, given I have diabetes, it'd help me with affordable health care. I could literally drink to my health(care)

I hope you don't seriously think this is a viable solution to health care issues in the current (and projected future) economic situation.

I don't know if government run health care would be the best option, but I do think government regulation would be great. You really don't know the kind of BS the insurance companies try to pull until you've actually had to deal with it.

All I ask is:

Where is a viable strategy to fix health care from the Republicans?

This is not about helping poor people. They already get assistance. This is about helping the growing number of middle class Americans without health care.

The bigger issue is why people keep looking to the gov't, rather to themselves, for a solution?

And, if it's that big of a problem that needs attending to, why not have everyone pay for it?

Because health insurance is not affordable. It's ok, you never seem to grasp those tough concepts, we no longer expect you to.

Why be a dick?

What right do you have to "affordable" government controlled healthcare?

It seems that I'm not the one having a hard time grasping tough concepts?

so, will this effect the amount of alcohol consumed?

lets say no: people will spend more on alcohol and less on other areas and the economy will suffer in those areas. Also, as they are dealing with less money for other activities, they will become depressed and drink more, putthing them in a worse position. Also, people will continue to drink their pepsi and cokes, but the extra money spent on that will no longer be available for gym fees, only adding to the obeseness they have.

lets say yes: people who depend on alcohol sales for a living will be hurting financially. Less people will be drinking, so less DUIs will happen. This will make driving safer yes, but the revenue the state will see will decrease and that will mean that layoffs may happen. Overall, jobs will be lost and incomes will be hurt due to the decreased purchase of alcohol and soda products.
