Squeal when I brake - 2008 WRX

Hello,

My 2008 WRX have been making a squeal/screeching noise when I brake. This only happens when I have been driving for sometime, it doesn't make this noise when the weather is cold and car has not been driven for sometime.

Do I need to get my brakes replaced? If so is it just the brake pads or the rotors as well?

Thank you,

I decided to purchase the Stoptech Street Performance Pads. I had a question I called a subaru mechanic shop. The person told me if I wanted to get my rotors resurfaced/turned is this something that I will need get done or would it fine without it? Also what are the pros and cons if I decide not get it done compared to getting it done?

You should absolutely turn the rotors. They get worn down un-evenly and turning them removes the high spots so the new pads can make full contact with the rotor. Hit up your local section of the forum to see if people have a preferred shop in your area.

With an 08, I would agree completely. And since you have the right answer I won't mention leaving your sister, or the mascot for an un-named insurance company, at home and the squeal will not be there

Sorry - bad days at work make for worse jokes
