new subaru driver tips for dropping car?

Hi guys I'm new on this forum.

I just purchased a certified preowned 2011 Subaru impreza (after receiving insurance for my last car, an old integra which got smashed by a drunk driver). I love doing work on my car - I don't know how people feel about the honda/acura scene here, but my old integra was a project car and I did a lot of work on it.

Now that I have this car which is almost brand new and has both the factory and mechanical warranty, I'm hesitating to modify it. One of the things I really want to do is to drop the car an inch or two (I'm not used to how tall new cars are these days). I talked to my dealership and they told me as long as the parts are Subaru parts the warranty will not be voided. If they are not then any problems caused by aftermarket parts will not be covered.

I was thinking about putting wrx or sti springs. I heard they are slightly shorter, is this true? Otherwise what kinds of aftermarket parts would be the best? Thanks for any tips or suggestions and glad to join the club (:.
