best tires for under $100? 04 sti

i just picked up a 04 sti. it has nankang ns1's that are almost gone and are horrible. im on a tight budget and would like to spend less than 100 for each tire. ive looked on tirerack but i have no clue whats good and whats not. im not planning on autoxing or anything like that, but i do drive aggressively every now and then and id like to get at least 30k out of them. any suggestions?

cheap tire on a high performance car is not a good idea, spend the money and get something good.

Nope. You're expecting great results but your budget will only accommodate bottom of the barrel.

Not for a 300 hp car. Especially one you just bought and will most likely be romping on.

I haven't used them, but my buddy had them on his Prelude and said they weren't that good.

For a few bucks more, these are pretty good for a daily driver:

If they are anything like their older g-Force Sports I wouldn't put them on a Toyota Tercel. The previous version had no dry grip and I would often slide just turning into a parking lot at 10-15 mph. No turn-in response at all.

My wrx is wearing some 205/55/16 g-force sports right now. They came with the wheels when I bought them and I've gotten about 8k miles of 60%+ hard driving out of them. They were also the same tire as on the wheels I got with the car when I bought it (225/45/17 size). I got about 20k of mixed driving out of those.

Overall, I would say they are not the greatest tire but they are consistent with a relatively low dry grip threshold and better than expected wet weather performance.

However, for $50 a tire more you could get Dunlop Direzza z1 Star Specs which are generally considered one of the best summer tires.

If you are SUPER broke and absolutely must have a set of tires to get by for a little bit, you could hit up the used-tire guys that advertise on craigslist. I talked to one in South San Francisco that had matching sets (within 2/32nds) of used summer performance tires like the Z1 Star Specs on hand for a few hundred bucks ($2-500 depending on tread wear) for a set of 4.
