CV Joints... are they interchangable?

I need a new front/inner CV boot to pass inspection in Hawaii. Whatever. Rockauto.com only has front/outer and rear/inner available. Are the inner and outer boots interchangeable from front to rear? Or are all four completely different?
Thanks!

Front and rear are different. Rears are splined on both ends and the front is cupped where it attaches to trans. I have a pair off of a 00-01 gc8 if you haven't swapped yet.

Oops didn't read that correctly. Not sure about that. Way easier to just swap the shafts tho if your gonna go thru the trouble of pulling the to swap the boot

Yeahh I would also agree that just changing out your axle would be a lot easier and less time consuming.
