What was your VW? If it was a Golf/GTI, you'll absolutely love the WRX. The only advice I have for you is to always shift smoothly and don't be harsh on it. As long as you do that, it will be one of the most reliable cars you will ever own.

I'm shopping for an 04 also. I noticed that the 04's don't have external antennas. Can someone confirm?

The antenna is in the back window on 04 models.

I just bought a 2004 WRX and I'm coming from Hondas. My brother owns a 2000 VW Jetta VR6 and the reliablilty of it has been much lower than I would expect. My roommate owns a BMW which has not been reliable for him. I'm sure Subaru will be better than that. I bought a 100,000 mile warranty for $17 extra a month just to be safe.

yea but aren't you worried about how dealers have been voiding warranties on a lot of stuff cuz of mods or just blaming it on driver abuse?

That's just because we only hear about the bad incidents. We never hear about the thousands of other people that are pleased with Subaru warranties.

This is very true. I'm one of them. I had some problems on my 2000 OBS and Subaru of America was very good to me on warranty work. Even some stuff that was out of warranty that I felt shouldn't have broke.

6000 miles on my 04 TS wagon, no probs yet.

That's funny. When I traded my Civic in with the Subaru dealer, the salesman asked me why I didn't have a Honda emblem on the front of the car.

I told him it was in the glovebox if they want to put it on but good look with keeping it on the front of the car.
