This is a code for "post catalyst fuel trim system too lean Bank 1) It is related to the rear most O/2 sensor. I have seen this in my travels with 05MY imprezas and legacys. And it has almost always been a poor conection in the wiring harness. that rear 0/2 has a jumper harness between it and the main harrness. and that is where the problem has been found. not to say you dont have a faulty sensor, or maybe you actually do have a lean condition......who would think it? Anyway, its an 05 so get it to the dealer and let them fix it.

I just bought an '05 STi. This P2096 code just popped up this morning while sitting in traffic. It has a Injen air intake on it from the previous owner. It only had a little over 3,000 miles on it from the first owner when I got it. I am not familiar with Subarus or STis, so I don't know what the stock exhaust is supposed to look like. Here is a link to pictures of my exhaust...it appears to be aftermarket to me, can someone confirm that and if possible what it is??

I have learned to live with the check engine light...it goes away every once in a while...but comes right back. I plan to swap back to my stock exhaust.
