I used to sell them. Nice car, lots of torque, front LSD is nice. All in all, I still prefer my '01 RS over the Nissan. It's just as fast but feels less cheap.

Just to let you know, my cousin works for Nissan as an engineer and he gets to drive company cars all the time. He says stay away from the SE-R. He says poor build quality/fit and finish. I forgot what else he said, but the summary was to stay away. Of course this is coming from a guy who gets to drive ALL the Nissan cars and Infiniti.

Although the interior looks cheap and the rear looks ugly, it is quite fun to drive. I love all that torque off the line. For that price ($16K-17K), I think it's worth it especially compared to 4-door Corollas and Civics.

I dont think much of them myself. I'd even get the new Si over one.

dashiet 11-05-2003 02:20 AM

i think its nice but i am not a fan of the back of the car

Bagin,DVS 11-07-2003 04:05 PM

i almost got one, till i compared the price, 02 spec v ser, about 17g my impreza 02 was 19 tilll everything was said and done it was like 16 9 so i went with the impreza, i hate fwd cars they suck. rwd or awd is the way to go.

I liked the car until I got to drive it. It just doesn't feel quick enough for the power it claims to have. Torque steer sucks balls, too. I would get something else.

I had a 2002 SE-R Spec V for 6 months. That car sucked!! I burnt oil real bad, and then the transmition started to grind... So I traded it in for a 99 RS. But now I upgraded to the WRX (so glad I did) :) My opinion would be to stay away from it.

I own a Spec-V... I've owned it since Jan 2002, its a cool car, handles great and it has very nice power for a n/a car. Yes it has its share of problems so to speak, I havent had any of this oil burning everyone talks of, but i have had 2 trannys replaced and misc small parts... ex: 2 door arm rests, gas cap broke, washer fluid cap broke... a pre-cat recall, dealer also ha to replace both headlight due to some wierd white haze that appeared after a year.

I am wanting a WRX for one reason AWD! and yes for the turbo too :) The WRX has so much more to offer than my Spec does and so much more potential. I test drove an automatic used 2003 WRX with 14,000 miles... I must say that it had no interior vibrations or rattles, by the time my Spec had 14k on it, it was a RATTLE BOX!!!! Even though I drove an automatic I still want the 5spd, the auto had some serious lag! though was still fun to drive... Im wanting a WRX so bad its killing me, but I cannot afford it right now. Im shooting for this time next year. :)

If you are wanting to stay in that price range check out the 2003 or 2004 Tiburon V6. My GF has one and it is pretty cool. Not the most powerful car out there, but the styling is hard to beat. They also have a hard top convertible coming out next year with V6 for under 20K. It is out right now in Europe and is the best looking car I have ever seen in that price range.
