Looking at 2 used WRXs for purchase (was: Help me out, please!)

I have three questions about getting my Scooby in 2 weeks to a month!

1) I right now have a choice between an '04 44k miles white for $11,900 (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=253516552&dealer_id=2964588&car_year=2004&model=IMPREZ&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2002&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=50&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=SUB&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar::ispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=34741&advanced=&end_year=2004&doors=&transmission=&max_price=15000&cardist=18) or a 02 blue, with gold rims, 77k miles for $10,000.

I personally really want an 02 and I want it blue. I love the blue and I really wan bugeye.

2) This is an important one. When I actually do go check out the car I want, what should I look for? What should I check on to see if the WRX is good and running?

3) When I do get my WRX should I get a regular blow off valve or a surge one (flutter)?

Thanks to anyone able to help me out, I'm not really familiar with looking for a car.

dont get an aftermarket blow off valve!!!!!!!!

Are there any negative effects with aftermarket BOVs? Yes. The downside of releasing the air to atmosphere is that it has already been metered by the mass air sensor, and when it blows off, the ECU will be injecting the wrong amount of fuel into the cylinders. The engine temporarily runs extremely rich, meaning too much fuel is injected into the cylinders.

This temporary rich condition isn’t usually that harmful, but it can cause bucking or hesitation on lift-throttle. If the condition is really bad, it can eventually foul spark plugs and even clog the catalytic converter as unburned fuel on the catalytic converter burns very hot, and too much of it can melt the cat.

1) I'd take a closer look at the one with less miles on the clock. It'd be worth the extra $2000. But, if you really want a blue bugeye then get the blue bugeye.

2) You should really check to see if the car shows evidence of having been modified. You want to avoid a car that has been modified, if possible, because there's a greater likelihood of abuse (5000 rpm clutch drops, HPDE track days, drag strip runs, overall just driven hard). Look for missing heat shields around the turbo and exhaust system uppipe and downpipe.

3) Forget the blow-off valve. Adds no power over factory bypass valve, but with potential to cause problems and waste fuel. It's also a cop caller in larger urban areas.

1) theres plenty of blue wrx's. just be patient. my advice is dont settle for anything, wait for the best deal you can find and snatch it.

2) dont get a blow off valve. if you must look for a BY-PASS valve. it will make a sound when you let off the boost, but will recirculate the air.
