Question 60,000 Mile Service - necessary?

Can i get a show of hands, or yes or no's as to who thinks they should have the 60,000 mile service done?

I've got an 04 WRX, with almost 60,000 miles on it, and I'm thinking i should get it done, but it just seems to be overly expensive for what they do.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Get it done. It may be pricey, but its worth it. Its more of a piece of mind thing. When they did mine, they found an oil seal starting to leak. So because they had half the engine apart already, it just cost me the price of the seal. If it would have been found after the service, I would have to pay parts AND labor to fix it. I do my own regular oil and air filter service, but anything above that I let the dealer handle it. I will be scheduling my second 60k service soon. Ive had about 125k miles of no problems so far. Thanks Subaru of Santa Cruz.

I had mine done but my car is still blowing up and soa isn't warrantying anything.

I'd advise that you have a shop do it...cheaper and just as good. Go to a dealership. They have a print out that shows what they do. Grab one. Do what you can do yourself. Then take it to a shop to do the rest. Keep ALL reciepts.

I've done my 15/30/45/60/90 etc. Do it for your own piece of mind and so you can be more confident in the longevitiy of your vehicle.

Wish my 04 was at 60...haaa. 99+

Get it done! Nothing is more important than having your routine maintenence done. Especially since having the sparks and diff oil changed is an actual thing you will be able to feel in your car's movement once it's done. If you find a subie shop other than a dealer, you could get it done for around $200 less.

Go for an independent shop if you can find a good one in your area. It will save $$ and you will probably get better service. The dealers get work automatically. Independents get business by doing a good job/recommendations etc. and have their reputation to maintain.

Are you a dealer or an independent? My local dealer charges > $700 for the 60k.

I just recently bought an 02 wrx. I do not know the history of the car, i bought it from a used car lot. Its at almost 75k and i dont know if it went it for the 60k.

So i called my local subie dealership in Angels Camp, CA for a quote on a 60k service.

He said $800. To bad I don't have that kind of money, lol.

Anyone know of and independent shop that can do this???? Bay area or sac?

I figure i can get the price down if i do my own fluids, filters and plugs.

My local one here charges $469.00, and I thought that was expensive. I guess now I'm feeling a lot better about that then and I'll be getting it done in a few weeks.

That's a good price. As I mentioned above, our local dealers charge significantly more than that.

Yeah, and they've been really good. I've purchased two subarus from them since living in Delaware and I've never had any reason to be upset or disappointed.

Now if I only had an extra $500 for that slightly used turbo on Ebay I've been eyeing!!

What exactly is done at the 60k service anyway? Is that when the timing belt is due? If not, when should the timing belt be done?
