WRX fuel economy

I'm interested in what others are finding with their WRX's in terms of fuel economy.
I'm still in the break-in period of my '03, but have had a very nice surprise as I've checked my mileage through the first few tanks. I've been getting 27-32 mpg - the last tankful was right at 31!
Now, granted, no racing, etc. here, just sane break-in style driving, but I am still pleasantly surprised.
What experience has everyone had in this area? -- not just OOB, but as your car accumulates mileage; after mods, etc.?
Thanks!

I don't get those kind or numbers at all.
Just yesterday drove from Philly to State College and back, (400 miles). I probably averaged about 80 mph on the highways.
I got 23.5 miles to gallon.
I usually average about 20-21 around town, driving hard but not killing it.

ya, I don't get them either....
they're still quite suspect, which is why I posted the thread.
But, after re-filling 3-4 times, I get these numbers, so my top-off variation isn't what is causing it.
I'm still going to track this, but they are unusual, as far as what I have heard.
Your driving was a bit faster than mine. My steady-state mileage has been more like 50-60 mph ----- 70 max, as those miles have been in some serious winter weather so far
But, I would say maybe 10-20% of the miles have been in-town type, so.............
The study continues.

ski trip last week.. about 240mi each way.
averaged 28mpg, with about an hour of stop and go on the way home. speed was 80 or below for 90% of the time.
the milage takes a bit of the ouch away when you go fill it up with 91+ octane gas.

I'm still braking in my car.....150 miles to go. I filled up three times. Each full tank, I'm getting around 23 mpg. I do most of my driving: 80% highway, 20% city.
This should increase as you put more miles on your engine. That's what happened with my Accord. The ****ty milage is due to the fact that I feeling the winter in Cleveland. And this is the coldest winter in 4 years.
