One this is for certain, though, is that there will be no more Saabarus. And for that, I am thankful.

i'm thinking twin engine quad turbo vitz with a boxer on one end and a V6 on the other, but with a supra drivetrain and subaru's knack for making cars so ugly they blow your **** off. It's going to have vtti and vtit and trtir and is going to be set up by stitrd and is also going to have scion wheels in the front and subaru wheel on the left rear and 2 supra wheels set up dualie style on the right rear. You will be able to burn out with all five wheels. It will be tight.

Well, its sort of a joke, because if you read the rest of the thread, its mostly us just speculating the sweet mixes of technology that could come of this new pairing.

I'm the one that jumped to conclusions? Then what, praytell, did you mean by "no more alpha romero grill"?

I did my best to intrepret this to mean there would be no more Alfa Romeo grill, which won't be the case, as this deal should have no affect on Subaru styling.

i don't see it as a good thing. for subaru i think it be a bad move. since toyota will have most of the company's shares, it can pretty much dictate where the company''s future lies.

With toyota making nothing but family cars these days who knows what will hapen to the Impreza line?

8.7% doesn't exactly give controlling interest to Toyota. Besides, Toyota has already come out and said that they will not interfere with Subaru's business plan, they will not send an executive over, and that this stock purchase is for the benefit of technology sharing and bulk parts ordering.

update....

TOKYO : Japan's largest automaker, Toyota Motor Corp., plans to outsource the redevelopment of one of its existing models to its new partner Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., a report said.

Toyota will tap the development capacity of Fuji Heavy -- of which Toyota become top shareholder in October when it purchased a stake from General Motors Corp. -- to cover personnel shortages caused by its business expansion, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing its sources.

The report did not say which model was to be redesigned, but said it would hit the market in two to three years and was likely to be a sporty subcompact -- an area where Fuji Heavy has development expertise.

Struggling US car giant General Motors gave up on its partnership with Fuji Heavy, maker of Subaru vehicles, last month, and growing rival Toyota stepped in.

General Motors, hit by sluggish sales at home, sold its 20.1 percent stake in Fuji Heavy. Toyota bought 8.7 percent and the rest was sold on the market by October 12.
