Subaru factory security question
Subaru factory security question
I own a 2003 wrx sedan and a question i have is does subaru put any type of transponder in the car? is there any type of factory starter immobilizers in the car? The reason I ask is I am installing a remote start alarm (clifford avantGuard 4) and want to know if anyone else has had problems installing remote starts in the past. any info would help. thanks.
P.s. I will have a complete walk-through of the install posted on the internet when I am done.

Not 100% sure if it kills the starter, but if your car does have the factory alarm, you should see a red blinking "alarm" I believe or "security" in the gauge cluster after you lock the car.
What is meant by "transponder" I know there is some problem if you try to install a turbo timer in one with an alarm. Easily solved, but still a headache.

well a transpoder is a security feature using in many car manufacturers to prevent the car from starting without the owners keys. like in many import, they have a chip built into the key that a transponder in your car reads and allows it to start a car. its designed to prevent the car from starting from hot wiring or cloned keys.
