One of the first cars FHI built. 2 cyl, 2 stroke engine with 360cc of displacement. Rear engine and I believe RWD. First built in the late 50's in Japan, and first brought over to the US in the late 60's.

The came in a variety of shapes, from coupe, to van, to truck, to convertable, to sport model.

There is definitely the unique factor in the 360 (esp. with a 1.8L FWD swap).

It'll be work, but I can really see your point on doing something original.

There is the owners club, which I linked above, but I don't know if they are still active. If they are, I'm sure you can get a wealth of information from them.

I'm with you on the fender mirrors. I think they look awesome.

Don't know if that is a Civic or not, though I do really like the looks of old (70's and earlier) Civics.
