Racer X Sponsership?

I just got offered a Racer X Sponsership for up to ten grand. Has anyone dealt with these guys before? they seem kosher.

the question is do you have to give them any money in order to get your sponsorship beneifts (aka the 10 grand)?

a deposit but he gave me 3 phone numbers. There owned by MotoRex from what I see on their website so they got to be somewhat ligit. If I lose $90 from this at least I can pass the knowledge on to the rest of I-club.

Sorry for the late post but I've been sponsored by these guys since March and did my first event (they require you to participate in four events, whether track or show) and out of all the stuff I've done to my car can you guys guess how much came from the 10 g's sponsor money? Nada... it's not a full sponsorship, what they do is give you the parts at "their cost" so supposedly "real cheap."

Sorry, forgot the rest, I did my event at Willow Springs and sent in pics, they never acknowledged it or sent me anything about it, whether it's all they needed or whatever. Also, if you want a part, you have to e-mail them and response takes 24-48 hours, just to either tell you how much or to ask you more questions about what you want. At the time I was looking for the Greddy electronic peak hold boost and EGT 60 mm gauges and they offered them to me for a pretty sweet price, so sweet that I had to ask them again to confirm that they were for 60 mm elec. blah blah gauges and he said oh sorry, that was for mech. So the price jumped considerably, but was still reasonably good, 180 and 205. SO I said ok, go ahead and send em and then he replies and all these replies again take 24-48 hours, so it's been like a week and a half since I had the money and was ready to spend. He replies and says oh the boost is actaully not 180, it's 195 plus s+h on top of each item. They claim that the 80 dollar deposit you pay up front is for just that, s+h. But he tells me that it's only for items they carry in-stock. I then called Road Race Eng. (big on DSM parts) and they tell me they have those in stock for 190 and 225 and no shipping charges obviously... so far I haven't been too impressed with them. I'm about ready for a turbo and intercooler upgrade so I'll let you guys know what happens with that. Oh, and so far it's been like that with everything, I've asked them about wheels, boost controller, and each time they ignore the wheels comment (I'm assuming they don't have a connection for that, but they could at least respond and tell me so) and the boost controller's they offered were always cheaper elsewhere.

You do get three vinyl stickers, one for your windshield and two small ones for the sides which you have to wear for each of the four events and a t-shirt, and you get to say your sponsored... but for 80 bucks, not really worth it. Like I said, I'll keep you guys posted if my future dealings with them are better.
