Possible Internet Scam Alert!!!!!!

Has anyone ever ordered a product from www.spimotorsports.com? Because I ordered Borla headers for my 1998 impreza but that was on 02-17-04 and I was sent an e-mail saying that I would receive another e-mail once my order has been shipped out. It is now 03-20-04 and I still haven't gotten a reply. So in leu of this I called up the phone number provided in the confirmation. It turned out the number belonged to Irvine Subaru which does not have an online ordering service. When I asked about SPI Motorsports they said they were in no way affiliated with that company. I told them that the e-mail address I was given was ryan@irvinesubaru.com and they said that was a former employee who no longer works there. Frustrated I went back onto the website and took another look @ the contact info. Low and behold it had changed, the email was now ryan@spimotorsports and the number wasn't the same. When I called the new number it went to a personal voicemail box which was full. I tried to send an email to the new address but received a message from a server saying that the account was not found. So I resent the same message to the old address only to get another message saying that it wasn't found as well. Yet my other 2 messages went thru without me receiving this message. So basically I really believe that this is a scam which I thought would be good to inform subaru owners about. If anyone out there has any information which may help clear this situation up please let me know. I'm definitely not going to stand by and let something like this go. I will see to it personally that the people behind this will go down hard.   I am grateful for any info. Thank You

This has been brought up on nasoic a few times.

South Coast Subaru looks like they are trying to help out with the conversion.

imprazian168, please don't post the same thing across multiple forums, thanks.

i-Club has a Reviews section where you can tell us about your experience with a vendor. SPI Motorsports is not a registered Vendor with i-Club but you can start a new 'product' item for them and post a review.

sorry about that...I just wanted to make sure that more people would be able to receive my information. I'm going to post this onto the reveiw section, I didn't know about that until you told me. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the link to the other forum it really cleared things up for me. At least it takes away my suspicions that the company was just a front for scamming people.

I just checked out the NASIOC thread that RallySubie provided. If you paid by credit card, I would cancel it immediately. Whoever operates that site should take that thing down. From reading the other thread, I have a feeling that it wasn't a very friendly parting of the ways and it left SPI Motorsports and their customers high and dry.
