Newbie needs help- strange engine noise.
 

Hey all, I have an '04 automatic wrx, 1800 miles.

Lately, whenever boost kicks in, I hear a low-pitched humming noise. The closet I could relate it to would be a low pitch wind flute noise. It happens only when boost kicks in, you can hear it the most in 3rd gear. It is not a steady noise, but uneven.

Am I just being paranoid of is this something I should be worried about?

my car sounds sort of like a turbo diesel because im catless :D

so any high pitch whir i could think would be the turbo. if you notice any power difference, then start worrying

its ok, i freak out too
like after a day of hard hard driving, i think i find like 40 things that my car didn't do before i took it out driving. by the next day it feels all normal and i feel better :D

Sounds like turbo to me...

Thanks guys. Its not the turbo "whoosh" and it only seems to happen when th car has been running for a while. I guess Im just being paranoid.
