Hello,
So two days ago I got a new '05 WRX sedan, WRC. Driven it for ~100 miles, it rocks.
I have a couple of questions:
1)when starting in the morning - the rpms are at about 1100 in idle, even when warmed up. The moment i blip the throttle they go down to 500. Is this normal? On my other cars once they warmed up the rpms would go to ~500 idle without the throttle blip.
2)The Idle is somewhat rough, even when warmed up - i can feel the engine bump once in a while with regular intervals - is this because its not broken in, or WRX is always slightly rough on idle?
3)'05 Seats - is there anything out there that can make them more comfortable? The lowerback support is fine, but there is nothing to press the upperback against, all flat seats. What you guys doing for 04-05 seat comfort? (besides replacing seats)
more
4)Sometimes hard or impossible to get into reverse... when in reverse makes crazy whinning noise is this ok?
5)What are the two disconnected connectors (green and white) under the left side of the dash, near the coin thing?
ANOTHER ONE:
6)When driving with AC on I noticed that AC intermittently makes a strange metallic "woosh" sound when I get to around 3000 rpms. Whats up with that? I don't think it made this before (I am on 600 miles now)
cheers!
ps. a couple fo more questions and this is gonna be a nice FAQ :-)

1. seems normal - I think mine ('03) does that sometimes.
2. This is a characeteristic of the boxer engine. Nothing to worry about. I usually give the throttle a little blip and it stops.
3. Not sure.

My idle is faster when cold. I don't blip the throttle. The ECU controls idle speed and mine slowly returns to normal as the engine warms up. No harm in blipping the throttle, though. If it's too cold, the idle speed will stay higher.
Subaru four-cylinder engines run a little bit rough. No balance shafts are used like on many inline fours because the boxer design is inherently balanced. Same reason why massive counterweights aren't necessary on the crankshaft, for less reciprocating mass. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean perfectly balanced, though.

I have a question concerning the 05 WRX I just bought myself last Sat. When I play my music kinda with some bass I hear some buzzing coming from my front speakers like if they were blown. It's not to noticeable but if you pay close attention you can hear it. Is this something some people have experienced.

well the stock system on 05 is not super but its not bad for stock. I think you may have your volume/bass set too high for it to handle - if its the volume you like, then mebbe you need a sound system upgrade. On moderate volume mine doesnt rattle.
hope this helps

about the reverse
The reverse gear in the WRX in a non-syncrous gear. thats why it is hard to get it in to reverse. first let up a litte on the clutch and then try reverse again and it should go smooth. dont force it because you could grind the reverse gear.[U]

...actually the 05 speakers aren't bad...the weak link is definatly the head unit, not the speakers...the rattle sound in the front is the doors, dynamat or fatmat would get rid of it because it's not speaker noise, it's the door panel vibrating against the door itself...
Also, for the reverse, it has a safety so you don't go from 5th to reverse, so it you put it in first then go to reverse it should pop right in. From any other gear it is designed not to work.
