Need advice on car to get
 

I'm selling my '86 Accord Lx-i, w/190k miles, and hopefully buying a Impreza. I want to spend 4 to 6 thousand on it, and plan to replace the engine and trans, and do other work to it later. I'm thinking a '97 would be best. Then I can swap out the engine and trans. I need some advice on whether thats a good year to go with for the price and where I could potentially find an engine and trans. I want to put a six speed in it and an engine off a WRX or STi. Also, I should have everything to do it with tools wise in my garage, including a 1/4 ton crane, but how much work am I looking at doing?
