Just picked up an Aspen White 05 Subaru STI

I'm still reading up on the car, and driving my gsr until it sells. The car came with an injen intake (should I be opting for a factory one?), and I was unaware of it until I got there; 8 hours of driving . The motor is clean as a whistle with 8k miles, and the car looks immaculate, not a single chip or ding, unlike the pos I visited in KY (6 hours, and the car was in horrible condition).

From what I understand, BOVs mess with the ecu and factory settings since the car is already tuned aggressively. Correct me if I'm wrong, I was told these things by various owners. Still learning. With this intake, I understand there may be some air flow problems, but the motor looks really great, and no engine check lights appeared during the 300 mile trip back. Could this car have been confirgured correctly for it? Any way I can check? Is there anyway I can find out if this car has been reflashed already?

Very excited to be apart of the Subaru club.

good choice of color. i love my AW 05. as for the intake if it is the short ram you should be fine but people generally have problems with the CAI(cold air intakes) some people get lucky and never have a problem with it so to each his own. if you get a BOV it wont mess with the ECU what it will do if you dont recirculate it like the factory BOV is cause a rich condition which in turn can cause black marks on your rear bumper, fouled plugs, worse gas mileage, and in some cases poor performance. since you have your intake id stick with the OEM BOV and get your self a intake hose to replace the black "ribbed" one that comes from the factory. then you will get a nice sound from the OEM BOV. just as good as any aftermarket one. keep reading get to know your car and have fun. and always be safe.

Thanks guys. One thing I've immediately noticed is how much nicer the Subaru community is than the Honda crowd.

I'm reading up on this car as much as possible, and hope to learn a lot more in the next few days before selling my GSR.

Thanks
