Is this a good deal?
 

Looking at 2006 WRX Wagon 2.5L H4 DOHC 16V TURBO with 86k miles priced at $11,500. San Fran car forever. Two owners.

Mostly stock with a handful of aesthetic mods (interior, headlights, etc.)

Also, if anyone can recommend someone I can bring it to to have it checked out in San Francisco, would be much appreciated!

How clean is the paint? whats the mileage? Have any of the following been replaced: water pump, timing belt ,clutch ,brakes?

Miles: 86,000

Paint/Body: clean with the exception of 2-3 really minor dings and about 2-3 inches of paint scraped off of left rear bumper corner.

Replacement Parts:
- New clutch at 78k
- New battery at 80K
- New tires at 75K
- New brakes at 80k

Has not had water pump, or timing belt. When is it recommended to do those two services?

Really appreciate your advice.

The answer to that depends on who you talk to. The average is around 105k and/or 8 years. With the age alone, I'd at least get it looked at.

If the interior looks clean and the body is clean the price is fair. Kinda high but you can spend way more fixing up a cheap beater.

Yeah at this age ( 10 years ), I can't recommend highly enough to make sure, or for you to factor in your car repair budget to fix pronto,

• timing belt, tensioner, water pump and accessory belts
• radiator and radiator hoses
• inspection of power steering pump and hoses

At least inspection of said parts and that they have lots of life yet, or for you to replace.

W/ re to radiator, if you plan on modding it, I highly recommend an ALL-ALUMINUM radiator, not the plastic end tanks version...

Yeah the timing components and water pump will run you about 1500 bucks done at a decent shop. Like cheat on stated above the radiator should also be replaced for peace of mind. But other than that it sounds fair.

Price seems reasonable but you must factor in costs of major maintenance !
