Getting First Subaru

In 6 months I will be getting a new car, most likely a subaru impreza. I need help deciding between a sti or wrx.

Imprezer Jul 17, 2005 07:31 PM

Ok. We'll help you out. But first things first. You gotta learn that STi is WRX. So there is WRX STi and WRX. ;)

Of course, if you can afford, get the STi. $ would be the only decidiing factor here. There are no advantages of getting a regular WRX.

GSX Jul 17, 2005 07:49 PM

Money, most likely will not be an issue for me

Imprezer Jul 17, 2005 08:11 PM

Then get an STi no doubt about it, unless you really like want to get a wagon.

GSX Jul 17, 2005 08:15 PM

i Guess I will then, now the only problem now is to get a deal with the evil southern states subaru dealership

jdepould Jul 17, 2005 09:15 PM

how long have you been driving?

GSX Jul 18, 2005 05:37 AM

a few months, right now i have a to carsit my sister's 2003 civic

PurduePhiGam Jul 18, 2005 07:34 AM

damn, a few months? sounds like you just got out of diapers

wish i could've gotten an STi at your age (even though they weren't even out yet)

GSX Jul 18, 2005 07:50 AM

Yeah, but i have indian parents, and my dad is very cheap

scrWrx Jul 18, 2005 08:36 AM

I'm trying to get a WRX around christmas time I'm just saving up for a down payment now. I lookin at an 02 or 03 but if you got money, like everyone else said, just get the STi. 300hp 6-speed, 0-60 in like 4.6sec(?) and the only awd car that I know of that can easily smoke all for tires. I've wanted the STi since before it was released over here but I'm in college and money is tight so that's why I'm trying for a 02. My parents just got an 05 legacy and that made me want a subie even more.

Damn can you even drive manual cars yet? I wish I had a STi or even a WRX

GSX Jul 18, 2005 09:34 AM

No, I plan on learning from a friend or going to bmw driving school during my next break. (I learn quickly after few drives)

PurduePhiGam Jul 18, 2005 10:28 AM

how do you know you'll learn quickly? you've never done it before. especially not with a clutch like subaru's got.

it aint like drivin a honda, you know

GSX Jul 18, 2005 10:58 AM

i know it will take time, i have 6 months to go and alot of free time, i will just spend as much time as i need to learn how to drive a manual.
after that i can actually go and test drive a wrx.

Turbo86 Jul 18, 2005 12:15 PM

keep in mind the wrx has a very tight clutch, it'll take some getting used to - even more so for the sti. remember to let off the clutch slowly and give it some gas, you'll do fine (took me a day to get it down, it's not rocket science) :)
