Ok, so here we go.
My clutch pedal is making a loud click/grind when pressing the clutch pedal in and a loud pop when depressed. 1st gear is having a lot of clutch chatter when accelerating and having issues shifting into other gears.
I took the Subaru to the dealership and was told it is the clutch slave cylinder, pilot bearing and clutch going bad.. No explination as too why the clutch assembly is making sounds.
Today, the clutch assembly is loose and getting louder which is greatly concerning me.
I did some research on the same issue today and came accross this article from Nasioc. 08+ Subaru WRX Firewall Class Action Lawsuit - NASIOC
The issues they are having is EXACTLY the same as I am having.
I do not abuse, launch, rally or any of the follwing in my WRX. Sure a couple of spirited 95MPH down the freeway from time to time, but defenitly not slamming gears by any means.
I currently have 52K miles with only an axleback exhaust, Eibach springs and a perrin panel filter for mods.
Just want to see who else is having this problem and what SOA did for you.
Thanks

Just an update, Subaru recognized the issue and is repairing it at no cost to me. They also provided me a rental vehicle. I am extremely happy with Modesto Subaru for taking care of me with this issue

damn class action suit. heavy stuff. glad u got it worked out. sounds like what happened to my old 96 corolla. one of the two mounted bolts were missing it nut. everytime the clutch pedal was pressed, a loud click and pop would come from the firewall. what was happening was the bolt that didnt have the nut, would slide back and forth and catch the firewall on the threads of the bolts, causing that popping sound. but ya, glad u got it worked out!
I have been dealing with this issue and S.O.A. the past couple days. My car is going in this afternoon and will hopefully have an answer tomorrow. Are in out of warranty by any chance? Im at 116k. I still hope Subaru covers the repair.
Hey Mike, who is your contact at Modesto Subaru? I may need to call them. I feel like im gong to get screwed in San Jose. S.O.A. told me they would only pay for $500 of the repair cost. And I know its going to take more than that.

Jessica from Modesto Subaru assisted me with SOA. I only have 59k miles on mine and have the certified preowned gold warranty that I forgot I even had. Lol
Thanks for the info. I finally got it all worked out with S.O.A. They will be paying the full amount for the repair. Now I just need to take it in tomorrow and get the ball rolling. It just took a couple days and getting a bit pissed off on the phone for them to listen and fix the problem. They admitted they are at fault by offering my a small amount for repairs, its only right they pay for all of it.
