There is really not much you can do as far as car theft. Lojack would work great if you had a joy rider take your vehicle. If a chop shop gets your vehicle they will strip it in minutes and get what they want. Chop shops are big money and they know what they are doing. Make sure your alarm has a seperate battery back up. That helps quite a bit. Car theives used to drill directly through fenders of cars right into the battery and drain them and then take the car.
Lojack is great, but not a single cop car around here has it.
My advice, get a alarm with a seperate battery, wheel locks, and a kill switch for your car. Also make sure that the cable that goes to the horn is armored so it cannot be easily cut or hard to get to. This should prevent people driving off with it or someone putting it on a flatbed without anyone noticing.
How does one steal a car generally?
1. Break the window (they do not waste time with slim jims, though some like me are pretty quick. Also other door opening tools work well). If it is a Gm product use a modified pair of visegrips to pull out the lock and then stick your finger in the hole and unlock the door **takes 10 seconds)
2. Once the alarm goes off if the car has one, pop the hood and pull wires to get rid of the siren or cut the battery terminals. (takes 20 seconds or less) or just drill out the battery before hand.
3. Take hammer to steering column and take out lock and then manually turn on the car with a screw driver.
Step 3 again... Load car on a wrecker.
Also a lot of car thefts the thief uses the key by stealing the key when they break into your house.
