2002-2003 Fuel Line Recall

I've been smelling some weird odors in my cab during the winter while it's warming up and can smell it near the front of my engine. Apparently there was a fuel line recall for a bunch of cold states, except for Washington. Is it a big deal or can I put it off until I can get a nice fuel system to replace it?

What year is yours? The dealer I called said the recall will cover it but won't cover any damage they do while replacing it. Isn't that nice?

In 2009 I believe. There's other threads about it. I just want to know how serious it is

The recall is old and only applies to cars that were original sold in certain northern states.

Many people have reported problems with their cars after doing the recall, but it's been so long that I don't remember the specifics.

So do you recommend buying aftermarket and doing the install with someone else?

Mine is a 2002 and I've noticed it this year . Is it a big issue cause I've found on nasioc it could be as simple as righting two bolts? The newer fuel rails are just shorter.

I was able to get the recall in Arizona in late 2012. Just go work on your dealer until they cave in. They replaced the fuel rail and damn near every rubber hose in the engine bay; they charged me for 2 hours labor but Subaru of America ate the cost for ALL the parts - my engine bay looks like the day I bought the car, except for the upgraded intercooler and strut bar!
