CEL for Catless exhaust

Does anyone know anything about the CEL caused by catless exhausts. Does the check engine light screw with anything because I know with the OBD II, a check engine light will mess with fuel/ air mixture and some other stuff and may end up damaging other sensors as it tries to compensate.
Does anyone know if a diagnostic is done on the STI and a hard code erase will get rid of the 02 code?

As far as I know, the CEL for cat inefficiency will not hurt performance or damage anything. Buy a downpipe with the integrated CEL fix or perform the mod yourself. I have a Invidia catless DP that I modded with a CEL fix and no CEL. I have about 1k miles on the DP so far...

Thanks Dsmperformance. What kind of CEL fix is integrated into the DP? I heard that a mil eliminator won't work on the STI or 04 models. I talked to a different Subaru shop then the one I bought my STI at (of course) and they said that they can do a hard code erase on the 02 code and maybe that will get rid of the code. And he said he's going to do it for half the price of a regular diagnostic. Weird thing about the code is that it disables my cruise control. So I have a check engine light and the cruise control light flashes. That's what really bothers me. I'm gonna call TurboXS today.
Just wondering, I bought the invidia downpipe and it came with the cel fix but I never put in the fix. The light came on right after I installed the downpipe with my greddy evo catback. I also just installed a vishnu upipe. Will the CEL fix still work since I have a full exhaust system?

Alright people here's the DL. I don't know about any other DP but the TurboXS but I've talked to some other owners of STI's that have the TurboXS downpipe and they have the exact same problem. Even if you leave one cat on, the CEL will still pop up. The CEL with the Cruise control failure. Unplugging the battery for 7 minutes will reset the ECU and make the CEL go away for a limited time and that time depends on your STI. I went to the dealer and got a diagnostic and the only P-Code that came up was catalytic converter inefficiency. So I had them do a hard code erase and it ended up the same as if I reset the ECU. This code also makes the engine run super rich and makes the gas milage go to hell. ECU is trying to compensate for the catalytic converter inefficiency. "Word on the street" is that on the race pipe, cat pipe, or whatever pipe that has the bung for the o2 sensor can be modified to make the CEL go away. What they're doing now is extending the bung out about an inch to an inch and a half and it seems to make the o2 sensor chill. So what I'm saying is...if you take that pipe and weld a threaded bung about an inch long on top of the original bung then that will fix your dilema. Or you can wait a couple months and TurboXS and other companies will be selling the new product.

Try the 'Help! Spark Plug non-fouler mod' and see if it works, only costs $5...
