I'm saying that the MY05 STi (wich will most deffinitly exist) will be a little cheaper. Due to the fact the the EVO and SRT-4 are taking a peice of the Turbo 4cylinder market. I've even heard rumors that Saturn is going to produce a turbo 4 with 300hp for around $25,000. Subaru will want to remaine competitive, to those people that don't know the heritage and quality that Subaru produces but rely on numbers and sales people to influence there buying decisions. Mechanicly the STi will be almost identicle to this years model, there might be a few extra options that the dealers will do but I don't think to many. They will fix the pinging issue of course, but other than that nothing much else.

For MY05 the Suspension should be tweaked a bit, maybe add a few more Horses and lbs/ft torque. Would like to see a sunroof option too. Ah yes, a different wing please. Other than that, the car is fine.

Oh please ... seats narrower by about 4 inches, and deeper; rear seat fold forward and down like in the wagon; screaming yellow color!!

According to my Subaru sources, there will NOT be a 2005 Sti imprezza imported in this country... This information was revealed at a subaru meeting last week to a friend of mine that is the parts manager at a local dealership... They only so often will make a special car to boost their image . There is STI everywhere for sale right now and i trust my reliable source. I will recommend that you do not wait for 2005 to buy one because you will be sorry .
Thats funny... Don't tell anyone but I first intimated this about 5 months ago and then again in August. Both times I got hated on big time. You and I must have similar same sources as mine are proven to be relaible. My sources had told me definitively _9_ months before it was publicly released that the STi would be coming to the US_and_ be a "Fast as hell". I was going to get an M5 but they said screw the BMW get a Subie like I always have and pocket the change. Well I did wait and imagine my surprise last January when it was announced officially about the USDM STi 2.5T. My sources tell me the exact same thing as yours, no 2005 STi. I'd warned folks to get an STi while they could and not to wait on the mile long line at Van Bortel or bet on availability in '05 but again folks just shut me down. So I said fine, I got mine...and moved on. Well it seems yes the STi is a 'special production' model (not regular like the WRX) and it is/was "limited" in production contrary to what folks wanted/wished for. No additional production ramp up has occurred as folks swore would occur as a result of overwhelming demand, which never occured. Heck, there are units sitting on dealer lots right now being discounted down having aged for 60-90 days. I met a guy two weekends ago who walked in a local VA dealership and bought an STi off the showroom floor trading in his Camaro on an STi that had sat for 60+ days with no buyers and had 21 miles on it. He didn't even know what an STi was untill he saw it as he drove past the dealership. He walked out paying $1K below MSRP with no dealing. Yeah, the demand for these things is just outta control. BTW, the Audi RS6 which is the current 'King of the Hill' is also going away after only a one year run as did the previous generation US market S8. As for sunroofs & leather being stock 'options' on an STi, as Toni Sporano would say; "Fughedaboutit!" But hey I'm just talkin out my a$$, right?!? - Janq "It's the economy stupid!" - Bill Clinton |

definately agree with this; but i still dont see the STI being taken out for the 05 yr. to much money was spent making a prescence; but yay they will sell for less than msrp in the future |
at what point does SOA have to announce if there will be/will not be a 2005 Sti?...
is there a deadline? |
They don't have to do anything and can announce any years production at any given time. Typically they announce a given years lineup in December of the previous year.

Just doesn't seem to make business sense to me that they would run a model for one year. It is illogical to not sell the Sti. Why discontinue a car that everybody wants.
And by the way the Sti ties the 911 Carrera in 0-60 and beats it in the 1/4 mile braking from 60mph and 80mph and also recorded 0.1 mpg better than the 911 Carrera. All for well under half the price???? AND it has room for five, comfortably. W3rd |

W3rd
But thats the thing, everyone does _not_ want an STi. Yes there are lots of auto geeks like you and I who admire them and a percentage of them got on a list or other to buy one, but its an even smaller percentage that actually spent the money and own one. What everyone wants is a reasonably quick people mover for the family that fits in well at the work & mall parking lot, doesn't offend the neighbors, is easy to maintain & own, comes with lthr. & sunroof as an option, plus a stad. radio & mats and doesn't cost an arm or leg. Just read up to the 'wish lists' folks have posted. What these folks really want is the new Legacy 'B4' in a wagon format or a WRX (cheaper) with normal conveinence options. How many people do you know that actually own an STi? Now compare that number to any other number of vehcile owners and all except for the Toyota Prius I'll bet the STi always comes in dead last. It's a nice car and all but Subaru is in the business of making money, not just catering to the needs of a few gearheads. The WRX will remain to fill the performance void as well as the Forester XT 2.5T. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the B11S (replacement SVX) comes online sooner than later. Don't shoot the messenger... - Janq |
