Radio whine(sp?)
Ok I have a stock WRX w/ the six disc in dash changer. I get massive radio whine when the engine is running. Is this normal, and is there a way to fix it semi-easily. It is most noticable on AM. I am figuring a power cable to close to something and just thought I would ask before dismantling.

do u have any after market products hooked up to it?
|
Nope its totally stock, but it does have the factory installed sub.

Take it back to the dealer. A stock stereo should have no whine at all. I have the upgraded speakers and sub, too, and mine has no whine.
You have an electrical problem, possibly a bad ground, that needs to be looked at. |
I think I have exceeded my warranty though and would have to pony up the cash. I have installed several stereos before and was wondering if anyone would know the answer for this car more specifically. I think its a power wire that is too close to the antenna wire, or something similar. I will ask if they will cover it though, but I doubt it.

[/B][/QUOTE] check the connections to the sub...a factory sub works similar to an aftermarket sub.....if a wire is pinched u will get road noise, if a wire w/o current is stripped and is touching the body, u will get road noise...double check all that stuff... |
Will do.

Gunslinger--
Is the whine coming out of the sub only? or all the speakers too? |
