what kind of crossover do you have? is it built in to the amp or is it separate?

there are two different type of crossovers depending on what kind of amp you have.

you have the LPF and HPF, low pass filter and high pass filter.

simply put, lpf adjusts the bass, hpf adjust the highs(everything else).

for example, if you set your lpf crossover to 80, it'll only place bass frequencies lower than 80 hertz, if you set it to 40, it'll only play 40 and lower, which makes your base sound much more cleaner.

the hpf, if you set it to 100, it'll only play frequencies over 100(100k?) and not lower (used to cut bass to help your inside speakers sound better).

i'm not 100% on the number but thats what lpf and hpf is for.

as for gain, think of it as a volumn knob for the amp.
but dont put it up too high, it'll overheat your amp but that does depend on the amp you have.
