Mp3/Wma question
Mp3/Wma question
I have an alpine cd9807 head unit and it plays mp3/wma files. But the problem is when I put mp3/wma songs on a cd, some songs don't play. The unit shows the song as unsupported. I d/led some wma files from a website and used the same procedures for each song when saving and stuff. Some work and others don't (head unit lists it as unsupported). Is there a way to fix this?

The are probably the wrong bit rate and/or sample rate. You will have to transcode them. The allowable formats are:
MP3
Sampling rates: 48 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 32 kHz, 24 kHz, 22.05 kHz, 16 kHz, 12 kHz, 11.025 kHz, 8 kHz,
Bit rates: 8 - 320 kbps
WMA
Sampling rates: 48 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 32 kHz, 24 kHz, 22.05 kHz
Bit rates: 32 - 192 kbps
Compare the rates of the files inquestion to that list/chart.
Just for reference, I did your dirty work cuz I am bored right now. I went to Alpine's website and looked up your model number and found the owner's manual for your head unit here:
http://iweb.alpine-usa.com:7777/pls/...y=45&p_main=10
The information I gave you is on page 28 of the manual.
Just thought I'd point out that you can do this yerself

Most of my mp3's work on my 9813, some do skip though due to poor dl or quality i guess. I tried playing wma's but i burned it as a variable bit rate w/c is like 355kbps, thats why its not reading them.....now i know i should stick with 192 or less....thanks.
