mb Quart or Focal Utopia?

I am putting a system in my STI. I bought a stock WRX 6 disc HU, which I plan on using initally and then putting in my '95 impreza.
Eventually I want a unit that will play DVD-audio.

I thought I'd get good speakers first, and then upgrade the HU.

I've looked at the MB Quart Q series component system at tweeter, nice but over $1000.00 (much les on ebay)

And I've looked at the Focal Utopia system (~$750.00 on ebay)>$1500.00 retail.

I am also looking at the Xtant amp.

I'd like some opinions on what speakers to go with?

If you didn't buy an amp yet, there is better stuff then Xtant. Look at some Sounstream, PPI and ofcourse McIntosh.
Just my 2 cents.

I find MB Q's to be a bit too bright for my ears. The Focal Utopia setup is one of the best setups I've ever heard, and if I had the extra cash to get em, I would. I'm probably going to go with the Focal Polykevlars, though.

The MB have an adjuster, like a jumper and you can decrease some treble through that to prevent them from being too bright.

Will the Utopias fit in the stock location?

Cheapest 165 W i found is at cbrstereo.com $549

I have focals too but have the 165 V2 only, the utopias
are too expensive for me. Focals have really good sq,
i think the only speaker i heard so far that's better than focals
are the dynaudio. If i had the money i'll go with dynaudio,
but doubt it will fit in our doors.

You really should atleast listen to the Zs. I had pros for a long time and now they are in the rear of my STI. I think some of the Focals sound better than the pros (and they should considering they are 2-3 times the price) but I feel the Zs are hands down the best I've ever heard. I'm running Z6s up front off Xtant1.1is and they are rock solid. Honestly they are crystal clear at 3/4 volume which is too loud for me.

Just make sure you spend a good amount of time and money on installation. The install will make or break it when it comes to high end components. Dampen the doors (inside and between the panel and the door itself), make a good baffle to mount the speakers, and use a foam surround to seal the tweeter to the door panel.
